no, not THAT kind…

 

I opened my back door yesterday and found a little girl that Libby sometimes plays with standing there. 

Me:  Hi A

A:  Where’s Libby?

Me:  She’s sleeping.

A:  Why?

Me: Uh, she was tired?

A:  Can you go wake her up?

Me:  No.

A:  Why doesn’t she go to school?

Me:  Because she’s not old enough to go to school.

A:  You should send her to (muffled name)’s.  No, never mind – she’s mean.

Me:  Alrighty then.

A:  Well, can you wake up Libby at 1:30? (It was 4:00)

Me:  Sure

A:  Or could you wake her up now?

Me:   No.

A:  Ok, then can you wake her up at 1:30?

Me:  Uh yeah… sure.

A:  Ok,

and she scootered away.

My life is so weird.

Ok, so I would like you all to keep WhyMommy in your thoughts today. She’s having a double mastectomy today, in her ongoing battle against Inflammatory Breast Cancer. She’s the mom of 2, and is an incredibly strong lady. I wish her the very best.

In other news, my surgery has been scheduled as well. THIS THURSDAY. I have to go in tomorrow for pre-op stuff, which I am guessing means blood work. Yet another round of me telling them “I have awful veins, please take it from my hand” and them saying ‘oh, I’m good at this, let me try this one” – grrrrrrrrrr.My mom is coming up Thursday morning (at like 4am) and I’m currently scheduled for 8:30 that morning, although that may change. My doctor told me the other day that they’ll “try” to get me out in 2 days, but like I told Jimmy, there’s no WAY I’m rushing home.

So that’s where we stand right now. I’m trying to get my house ready for my hospital stay, as well as my mom’s visit. I’m hoping to finish up some laundry today and go to the grocery store tonight. My mind is scattered, and I don’t know what I’ve got left TO do, and now, to be honest, WhyMommy’s surgery is heavy on my mind. I admit, I haven’t been reading hers (or many other) blog recently – mostly because the idea of what she’s going through just affects me emotionally – I can so easily put myself in her shoes, and it depresses me further. So I try not to put myself in that position, but then I DO feel bad when I just happen to learn (through Twitter, no less) that she’s going through this today. ugh.

I admire her and truly do wish her the very best.
