More blahs

Things have been pretty quiet on the blogging front, mostly because things at home aren’t all wine & roses as of late.

Things have been pretty tense for a long time now.  Part of it is his hours, but you know, it’s more than that.

Last weekend after they dropped me off at BlogHer, Jimmy took the kids over to the Minuteman National Forest – they toured it for a bit, and then realized that my camera (not the Nikon) was missing. They were afraid they’d left it somewhere along the trail they’d walked, so then they spent the next hour or so searching for it.  All the while, Jimmy was getting increasingly pissed off at the world, and Anthony.  When they finally found it – IN THE STROLLER – he headed out to take then to lunch.

Apparently, after lunch, he decided to go find the hotel, get them checked in and chilled out.

It took him an hour & a half to find the hotel.  He just drove around & around, trying to find it.

Imagine how extra special his mood was then!

When I called to find out what to do about getting from the BlogHer hotel to the Homewood Suites that we were staying at, I got an idea of that mood.

In any case, after he picked me up from BlogHer, we went back to the hotel and I ordered dinner for us (yes – at 8:30).

The next morning, we got the kids up early, and I told them about where we were going – WE’RE GOING TO THE CIRCUS!!!  They were very excited.  We headed into Boston the long way.  We got into Boston around 9:40 – plenty of time to make it to the pre show for the circus.

Herein lies the problem.

THERE ARE NO SIGNS IN THE ENTIRE CITY OF BOSTON THAT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE TD NORTH GARDEN OR whatever the frig they call the place.

NONE.

ZERO.

ZIP.

We spent from 9:45 to 1pm to finally give up and head home. It sucked. Big time.  Big BIG time.  The kids didn’t get the circus. I didn’t get my Boston fix. Nothing.

We wound up with an over priced lunch in Salem on the way home.  That was it.

The entire reason why they even came with me was to go to the CIRCUS.

Sigh.

So then on Wednesday was Anthony’s birthday. We had a small party, and then yesterday, my mom, dad and 2 of my nephews came up and we had a bigger party at the park.  Outside in October.  In New Hampshire.

Yeah – I’m a freakin brain surgeon.  We FROZE.  I bought a big box of hot chocolate from Dunkin Donuts, we ordered some pizzas, I bought them all swords & shields to play with.  The kids didn’t freez e- they were too busy on their sugar/carb high and running around to get cold – the adults, though?

Yeah – we froze.

Here’s 9 of the 10.  The last one showed an hour late.

party

I didn’t get the parents’ permission to post their faces, so I x’d them out.

So anyway, that’s the main reason why it’s been quiet around here.  It pisses me off that even after 13 years, we can’t be in a place of solidarity when it comes to pretty much anything.

Alright, whose big idea was this?

So, we finally got the “approval” for vacation – which starts tomorrow.  So whose big idea was it to have not 1, not 2 but ALL THREE of my kids run fevers this week?  First it was Libby for a few days – nothing really more than a fever, but still – a fever.  Then last night, Zachary started with one, and was up until 2am.  At 6, he woke me up by crawling over my head with his hot little body.  I called Anthony in to sit with him so I could go make him a bottle and Anthony said “mom, I feel funny”.  Yep, you guessed it – fever.  What the hell?  Doesn’t that “somebody” know that I still have so much to do to get this house ready for the imminent inspection that will undoubtedly happen 1 or 2 days after we get back from Tennessee?  Doesn’t that “somebody” know that I rely HEAVILY upon my oldest to help me, both with the youngest kids and around the house?  Doesn’t that “somebody” know that I need this vacation BADLY?

So now the 2 boys are back in bed, each having been Tylenol’d and I’m sitting here with a headache and trying to come up with a list of TO DO for the day.  The hotels are booked.  Friday night in Lexington, VA – where I’ll HOPEFULLY – FINALLY – get to meet my best friend Angel for the very first time!  Saturday night in Powell, TN.  Sunday through Wednesday in Pigeon Forge, TN.  I haven’t booked it yet, but we’ll be going back to Powell on Thursday night, and then the tentative plan is to head back North on Friday, stopping in to meet a friend of ours in West Virginia.

Jimmy had a job interview yesterday.  When he got there, the job was for something completely different that he really isn’t qualified for (gotta love head hunters), but then they mentioned another position that they have been having a really hard time filling – a web marketer – which is something he really enjoys doing and is really good at – and so he jumped at that and he was told afterward that he’s their number 1 candidate!  So hopefully by the time we get back, we’ll know something.  He’s really fed up with his current job – not so much the job, but the people.  So I guess it’s time for a change.

I don’t remember if I blogged about it, but I went to the neurologist again last week.  He’s going to continue to monitor my tremor but says it’s a tell-tale sign of a particular muscle disease (no, I can’t remember what he named it) – and that he’d order the brain MRI with contrast to see if there are any more lesions other than the 1 that they found last time.  He continued to try and qualm my fears by telling me that people with diabetes, people who have migraines, etc. would have a lesion on their brain.  I don’t have those so I don’t know what he was trying for.

bdayOh, and we had a birthday party for me on Saturday. Libby & I made the cake, and we had lots of unhealthy party foods.  It was fun :)

You may have noticed that my blog keeps changing appearance.  That’s because I’m not happy with my current theme, nor can I find one that I’m THRILLD with – so I will most likely have to make my own again – and perhaps I’ll get a chance to do that during my vacation.

Oh and I finally bit the bullet and did what I needed to do to make my photo greeting cards!  I’m thinking about setting up a shop on etsy, just to see what happens.    Ok, I really did set up an Etsy shop – go check me out!

I did watch Dancing with the Stars, but haven’t had time to blog about it – but I was really surprised by Priscilla Presley (but omg, what has she done to her FACE?).  It’ll definitely be interesting to see who goes home next week!

Oh – and does anyone else watch Big Brother? Gawwwwd, how annoying that show is but I HAVE TO WATCH.  Like a train wreck or something.  Survivor… eh – it’s all been so done that it’s no big deal if I watch it (although, of course, I make sure I do! LOL).  I’m looking forward to the return of Amazing Race, though.  I do not, I REFUSE to watch American Idol – the only reality show that people really seem to be DIE HARD fans of – but not me. Thanks but no thanks LOL

Hmmmm – anything else?  I dunno.  I know I have been missing from your blogs.  I hope to get a chance to visit next week during my quiet times (ha. ha. ha.) If not, please know that I DO think about you and am feeling very guilty for having missed out on the last couple of weeks!

Ok, I’m off to go do SOMETHING to get this house ready for the inspection while I wait and hope that these mysterious fevers GO AWAY.

My birthday, in review

Well, my birthday was quite nice :) I heard from most of my siblings (and by most, I mean 2), my parents, my best friend. Then I went to the neurologist and he’s ordering the brain MRI w/contrast. After that, I met everyone at Applebee’s for dinner and oy, what a minor fiasco, but the management took care of us, so that was cool.

Then, we headed home for presents!

gh + wireless guitar controller $100

ApplebeesNeonLogo Dinner (including a steak that was sent back 4 times) – $50 $25

FrappuccinoMocha 4 pack – $6

daffydills2_edited-1 2 bunches – $5

coming home & listening to this

PRICELESS!

Daffydills – I love my daffydills

Ok, the whole watermarking thing has got to go… but that’s one of the gifts Jimmy/kids gave me for my birthday – beautiful daffydills.  Also, a potted daffydil plant :)   I just wanted to show off the photo LOL

1974 – “Wonder Woman” debuted on ABC-TV. The show later went to CBS-TV.
2002 – It was announced that Oprah Winfrey had extended her contract for “The Oprah Winfrey Show” through the 2005-06 season.
