Reaching out

I know I haven’t been blogging much.  I guess I haven’t had much to say that I haven’t already said a dozen times, and I get so tired of rehashing the same things of my life, it just doesn’t make much sense to do it again and again.

However, this morning, I noticed a link that problogger had tweeted and clicked through.  ANOTHER Mother is facing something that none of us should ever have to face. ANOTHER child is facing something none of us should ever have to face.  Manic Mommy’s little boy Ezra has been diagnosed with leukemia.

This is Ezra.

Thanks (sorta) to a spider bite that sent them to the pediatrician, his cancer has been spotted early and he’s already begun chemo.  But his mom & dad need help.  His mom is a SAHM. His dad is going to school full time, working part time.  They haven’t got the money they need to make sure that their house is the kind of CLEAN a chemo patient needs.  So they need help.  Lots of help.  I’m sending what I can, but I’m asking you to do so too.  $5 will help.  $50 will help.  Whatever you can do.

Do it for your healthy kids and grandkids, nieces, nephews. Please.

GO HELP

I’ve made this button for people to post as they blog about this. Please feel free to grab it and put it wherever you need to – also, share this post and Manic Mommy’s post.  As we in the blogging community have seen in the last few months as other bloggers have endured the worst of the worst, BLOGGERS CARE.  BLOGGERS HELP.  Bloggers rock.

If you are a friend of mine on Facebook, then you already know that these cuties are our newest family members.  Cookies & Cream are absolutely ADORABLE, and as much as I was against having ANY pets, it’s so much fun to have them around.

Cookie was actually Libby’s birthday present.  But Cookie walked around meowing when no one was around – so we got Cream to keep him company :)

My sister Heather, her 3 boys, and my mom & dad came up last weekend for Libby’s birthday.   It was ummm…. NOT the best visit ever.

They didn’t arrive until almost 5pm on Saturday.  We ordered pizza and let the kids make their own pizzas.  After we ate, we went to the hotel to get them checked in and settled.  Yes -  6 people in 1 hotel room – and then add also me & Anthony.  Yah.  Screaming baby Donovan, with an earache. The kids got their bathing suits on and we went to the pool.

My sister is going through some really hard things right now – and although she may kill me, I need to show you this photo:

‘nuff said.

The next morning, Anthony & I went back over to the hotel to have breakfast with them, and to figure out the day.  I had wanted to go down to that park we’d gone to the week before –

but when it came time to get back to my house and get ready to go have Libby’s party at the park, my mom realized she couldn’t find the key to the rental van they’d rented.  We searched the room.  We moved every piece of furniture.  We checked every bag. Every – where.  The rest of the day SUCKED. Without the key, they couldn’t go anywhere.  I wound up bringing the boys to my house so they could at least play.  At dinner, we went back to the hotel and ordered dinner from another place in town and had Libby’s cake… but it just wasn’t the same. My parents were preoccupied with what they were going to do about the car and getting home the next day.  My sister was preoccupied with her sick kids and other problems going on.  It SUCKED.

After dinner, we all went swimming again and then eventually went home.  The next morning, my mom was on the phone (again) with the rental car company (Enterprise), AAA and eventually, the locksmith.  They had a locksmith there for hours, trying to get into the van (he eventually did), then trying to make a key for the van.  2008 Kia Sedona.  Not good to lose the key for.  After SEVERAL hours, he finally got a key made and they were able to pack up the van, come to my house to say good bye and head home.

I know they were glad to get the hell out of here.  My nephews both had the croupe, and were on prednisone for it.  Well of course, 2 days later, my kids woke up with fevers and now two of them are coughing as well.  They’re not the same – but still – enough to piss Jimmy off and have him accuse me of lying about the boys being sick before they came up.

Yah – it all sucked.

I so wish they’d have had a good visit.  They spent a lot of money to go home without having done much of anything  :(

Meanwhile, with all this going on, there are still things going on around my house that I can’t talk about on here – but let’s just say that the stress level is at an all-time high.

Oh, and I have another WONDERFUL set of neighbors who dug up my f’reakin garden because they wanted to plant there (it’s a patch between their door and mine) – and couldn’t wait for me to get home to do it myself.

Stressed?

Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

At least Spring is here.

Spring

Spring has been here “officially” for 7 weeks. But it’s only really shown up around here in the last week, so today, I went out today to say hello to Spring.
