Friday Fill-ins

ffi

I haven’t done this in ages!

1. I’d really like my mom’s poached eggs right now.

2. F**k! [is the word you’d most often hear me say if I stubbed my toe.

3. Possession is ummm… against the law?

4. I heart Captain Jack Sparrow.

5. Marshmallows and fire go together like bread & buttah.

6. (I got nothing for this one LOL) on and on.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to nothing, nothing AND nothing, tomorrow my plans include going out to take pictures, and Sunday, I want to sleep all day. Not gonna happen, but I can wish ;)

All the news that’s fit to print

Real exciting around here these days.  My big deal today? I got new glasses. I know, right? Don’t they look cute?  Unfortunately, they’re not as big as my old ones, so they do not hide the scar CAUSED by my last ones but whatever.  I’ll just keep using white-out to hide it.

ummm

Oh, next week is my momma’s birthday.  Yay mom!  Making it another year while living so close to my sister – that’s an accomplishment right there!  smile_devil

Seriously, though – my mom makes grandmothers look cool.  How many grandkids can say they play video games with their grandmother? Or that she’s WAY better than you!  Or that she’s been playing the game longer than you’ve been alive!?  lol

My nephew Devon, who is 22 7, just joined the world of Runescape, where he joins me, my mom, Anthony AND Libby in the fun & excitement of dragon slaying, sheep sheering and lobster catching.  Woot!

Dancing with the Stars, Survivor, Amazing Race, Medium and I’m not sure what else is all starting up again – THANK GOD.  I’ve about exhausted everything on Hulu.  Of course, I’ll be blogging about my favorite realty shows over on Reality…really?, so I hope you’ll visit me there.

Also, next month is both mine and my baby sister’s birthdays and I’ll be having a really cool, fun, fantabulistic giveaway to celebrate our birthdays!

I’ll give more details on that soon :)    I WILL say that one of the giveaways will be given specifically to those who read me via RSS!

Anybody got a tissue?

Ugh – this time of year can really suck the life out of me.  The cold – the colds – the cold.  I hesitate to write this but so far this year, my kids have been kept in their own oxygen bubbles lucky but last year, Libby came down with what I genuinely describe as THE PLAGUE.  She coughed so hard, it was awful.  Seriously, the ONLY thing that would help her during the night were these Triaminic Thin Strips.  They were a lifesaver!  They are perfect, though, because they’re premeasured, no measuring, no medicine cups – LOVE them.

Fortunately, because we homeschool, I never have to wonder if my kid(s) is/are too sick to send to school.  But Triaminic & The National Association of School Nurses have partnered up to create the “Sick Day Guidelines: Making the Right Call When Your Child Has a Cold." According to their site, some 22 million school days are missed each year in the U.S. due to colds, which are also the leading cause of doctor visits and missed school and work days.

Should I keep my child home or send him or her to school?

Consider keeping your child home if he or she:

  • Has a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher
  • Has been vomiting
  • Has symptoms that prevent him or her from participating in school, such as:
    • Excessive tiredness or lack of appetite
    • Productive coughing, sneezing
    • Headache, body aches, earache
    • Sore throat*

*A minor sore throat is usually not a problem, but a severe sore throat could be strep throat even if there is no fever. Other symptoms of strep throat in children are headache and stomach upset. Contact your pediatrician as your child needs a special test to determine if it is strep throat.

Keep your child home until his or her fever has been gone for 24 hours without medication. Colds can be contagious for at least 48 hours. Returning to school too soon may slow the recovery process and can unnecessarily expose others to illness.

Please note, these tips should not take the place of medical advice from a doctor or pediatrician. Parents should also be aware of guidelines specific to their child’s school.

Triaminic’s Tips for Moms not only help you not only figure out whether or not to send them to school, they help you make your child feel better – and what’s better than that?  I’ll tell you what’s better – KEEPING THEM FROM GETTING SICK! LOL

Visit Triaminic’s page today and you can also download a $1.50 coupon!

(As a side note – I can’t describe how annoyed I got when I read that in their updated dosing instructions includes this line: “do not use for purposes of making your child sleepy”.  WHO DOES THAT?  Well, unfortunately I know that people do that – but it still makes me angry!)

potential post card – your opinion?
