What a weekend!

I know some people LIKE hot weather. I do not.  I do not like it AT ALL.  Last week, our temperatures ranged in the 60’s.  Then all of a sudden, it jumped to high 80s all weekend – avg humidity was 80.  IT WAS HOT & STICKY and just basically, yucky.

So of course, Saturday was the day I decided to get my garden finally IN and arranged and all that.  Stupid me.  But I got it done.  Now, we have a tomato plant , along with dill, chives, spinach, green onions, rosemary and basil growing (all in pots) – but I finally got the flowers that I’d started from seeds into the ground, as well as the dahlias that I’d bought in pots, put into a window box thing.  It just looks much better outside our door now, so that’s good.  But oh was it hot.  Anthony helped and complained the whole time, of course, because my children DO NOT LIKE THE HEAT EITHER.

I also (of course) snapped some pictures of the dahlias because they were just so pretty and just crying out to be photographed.  They’re over at my photo blog.

Saturday was also the day I took the kids out to do some birthday shopping for Jimmy.  We didn’t get a lot accomplished because they didn’t know what they wanted to get him, but in the end, that was ok. Saturday night, my sister Heather called to let me know she was on her way to the hospital, as she was in labor!  Of course, you all know that Donovan was born on Sunday morning :)

Just for Daddy Sunday afternoon, we had a little party for Jimmy to celebrate his 44th birthday.  We got him what he wanted – chocolate & cake (chocolate pecan caramel cheesecake). LOL  I also managed a stud censor to help him continue putting up shelves around our apartment without killing himself on wires or having them come falling down.

Make a wish! Stud censor and chocolate - what more could a man want? BIG Libby

He’d asked for a picture of Libby that he absolutely LOVED to be blown up to a 12×18″ size print – and Jimmy never asks for pictures ever – so I made sure I got that done – and Staples had a fantastic special going on for the month of June.  To have this picture printed out 12×18″, matted and framed on foam board and then laminated – $10!

My Favorite Ma'an - the birthday boy  Zachy, investigating the cake on his hand Anthony, writing a card for his dad Libby, making a card for her dad

All in all, it was a nice weekend, even if it was too hot.  We wound up not going down to the lake as we’d planned because it was too hot and we KNEW it’d be packed.  We wound up hanging out at home, and finally late in the afternoon on Sunday, I relented and had Jimmy put the a/c in our bedroom window.

Ah … cooooooolness.  I’m never leaving my room again.

Ohhhh, and on Friday, I designed THREE new blog headers for the Pinks & Blues Girls – I can’t wait for everyone to see them!  As a result of those, plus their new logo, I’ve even gotten a couple of inquiries for me to do other people’s blog headers.  So that’d be cool, since I’ve always loved designing stuff :)

Oh! I also began writing a post on the top 10 ways that we live frugally – stuck though – am having a hard time rounding it to 10 LOL

So – what’d YOU do this weekend? :)
