Friday Fun – Friends edition
1. Best friends were all the thing in my high school days. You were only allowed to have one best friend, but, ever the rebel, I had several! What about you? Tell us about your high school best friend(s).
- I had 3 best friends in high school. Two were cousins and one was a male! Gasp! We were great friends, though.
2. Are you generally better friends with those of your own gender or those of the opposite? Or is it balanced between the two?
- It used to be I was better friends with males than females – that was primarily Internet friends, though – in life, I suppose I’ve had more female friends, but few long-lasting friendships of any gender.
3. As you get older, are best friends still important or does having a best friend get less important to your life?
- I have one best friend whom I’ve never met but who feels like we’ve known each other forever.
4. Have you ever met any of your online friends offline? Did they match your mental picture of who they were?
- I’ve met many, many online friends and most of the time, they were very similar to the people I thought they were. And of course, I met Jimmy online!
5. Do you have a few close friends and more acquaintances? Or are you the opposite, with lots of very close friends and few casual ones?
- I have always found out the hard way that the people I thought were close friends wind up being more acquaintances – I’m not good with friendships, I’ve slowly discovered. I always give more than I should.
6. Are there any friends of the past that you would like to reconnect with?
- Yes, I’d like to reconnect with 2 of my high school best friends, just to see if they’re ok – I haven’t heard from either of the 2 in many, many years. The 3rd, I hear from from time to time.
7. If you could become insta-friends with any celebrity, who would it be and why?
- Robin Williams – I need more laughter in my life, and I have no doubt that he’d provide it. Tom Hanks – because I think he’s just cool and friendly.

Think about me this weekend….
Hubby says he doesn’t want to take the steroids they’ve prescribed for his shoulder until this weekend, when I can keep an eye on him. I said “Oh great, because I have nothing better to do than chase your half-naked ass down the street after you’ve turned into the HULK. Thannnnks!”
He’s on a 6 day course of steroids – the first day, he has to take 6 of them. The next day, he has to take 5, etc etc. This man cannot take any pill – ever – without something to swallow with it, be it a piece of bread, a cookie – something. Imagine him having to gag down 6 pills? The pharmacist suggested taking them all at once, in the morning with breakfast. So he has decided he’s going to do it by the manufacturer’s directions instead. Because, you know, he’s a man.
Also – he’s going to try to fix my really crappy Internet connection. We have our computers mostly wireless – the only one wired to the cable box is his, downstairs. Mine upstairs, as well as the kids, are all wireless and go through a router that I think is just having fits. So most places I go to on the net time out 4 or more times before I CAN GET THE DAMNED THING TO LOAD. Thus, the lack of comments on most of your blogs from me. My apologies, but ya know – there’s only so much time in the day! If only we could comment through rss!
My daughter has gotten to that lovely phase in her life where she doesn’t want to change her clothes because they’re her FAVORITE – and because she has so many clothes, this goes on for days. at. a. time. When I stress to her the importance of changing her underwear, she’s fine with that. then she puts the same dirty clothes back on. I love my life. I love my life. I love my life.
She & Anthony are fighting like cats & dogs lately and the results are not pretty. I’m sick of listening to it. I’m thinking eBay should have a kids section.
Ummmm… I think that’s all the stuff floating around in … oh wait, 1 more thing.
My neurologist finally decided to return to the US and back to work. On Tuesday, his nurse called to let me know that the EEG results were normal, with no signs of seizure or MS (ummm – huh?) and that we’ll repeat the MRI w/contrast in 6 months. 6 MONTHS. 6 months of more pain in my back and neck, more spasms & twitches… it makes no sense. So I’m going to find another neurologist. I’ve had it.
I have made another appointment with the surgeon, as well. I’d canceled the last one because of the money ($50 co-pay is ridiculous), but I’ve just had so much more problems with my stomach, it’s time to stop ignoring it.
The New Hampshire primary is set for January 8th! SO I suppose I should get to reading about these candidates, huh? They’ve all made stops in my town but because we have a once weekly newspaper, I never know they’re here and until they’ve gone
I really hate politics (sorry Stacey!) but I do vote – even if it makes no difference because I know that there’s a machine in the background of the Washington scene that makes the decisions about our leaders long before we do – and then does whatever is necessary to affect the changes they perceive to be necessary. It’s neither democrat nor republican – it just *is*. But it’s still better than other systems around the world.

Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well- warmed, and well-fed. – Herman Melville
Someone needs to flip me
Why am I not posting until 9pm or later every night? I have no idea. Perhaps if it weren’t for NaBloPoMo, I wouldn’t bother, but it’s going for 1.more.day. so I am too, dammit!
Hubby hurt his shoulder about 6 weeks ago and him being him – didn’t do anything about it but bitch, moan and complain for the last 6 weeks. His arm’s been going numb, he wakes up in pain, so he’s been eating my ibuprofen for those weeks and ignoring it. It’s what he does best. However, he didn’t take the ibus night before last and when he woke up, saw the kind of pain that he was REALLY in, and finally mentioned something to the moronwhoscrewedusroyallywithourbenefits HR person, who said “HEY! That’s worker’s comp – you need to get this checked out” – and apparently THAT was enough to make him go. So today, he went and 2-1/2 hours later, he left with 2 prescriptions, a band on his arm for his tendonitis and a pending phone call from physical therapy. (That kind of sucks because with gas being $3.15/gallon and the physical therapy place being a few miles out of town – ouch) Annnyways, so we’re both all screwed up now. lol
Last week was Zachary’s 9 month check up and he weighed in at 16 lb. 8oz. Judging by what some of the other babies who were born around the same time are weighing in at (in the 22lb and up range!), I’m thinking that Zachary needs a few more Scooby snacks or something. Otherwise, though, he was fine
Final call for Christmas card kid exchange, btw

8 Things meme
Once you have been tagged, you have to write a post with 8 facts/things/habits about yourself and say who tagged you. In the end, you will need to choose the 6 people you tag and list their names. No tag backs.
1: I’ve been a touch typist since I was 13.
2: I’ve worn off the a, s, l, m, n, c, v & e keys completely from my keyboard. It’s only been a problem lately when I have to type one-handed (thanks to Zachary) and also when the kids try to use my keyboard. Of course, my keyboard is roughly 8 years old!
3: I pronounce it Me Me , not meeeem. (It makes more sense to me that Memes are called ME MEs since it’s about ME – instead of pronouncing it meme (like cream) because I’m not talking about CREAM.)
4: I have a silver streak in my hair (from the top of my head!) that I’ve been complimented on numerous times – but it still drives me crazy. I first noticed it when I was 16 (I blame it on the boyfriend at the time).
5: I have underwear that dates back to when I was pregnant with Anthony. Ok, so there’s only 1 pair left, but they’re still in good shape! JC Penney, in case you’re in need of some longlasting granny panties LOL
6: I was once told I have mutant toes because my 2nd toe is longer than my big toe.
7: My favorite breakfast is poached eggs on toast, homefries & ham.
8: I still have a favorite blankie. It’s a yellow & white afghan that my grandparents made for me when I was little – and I guard it closely – you can take anything else off my bed or out of my room, but DO NOT TOUCH MY BLANKET.
and I tag…
Jane/Audrey/Sharon (at least one of them!
)
Heather (even though she really hasn’t been blogging much (hint hint) annnnnnd
Tommy (because HE doesn’t blog enough either)
and I ask them all to come back and comment here when they’ve done it so you can go visit them
Reality TV Tuesday (spoiler!)
Dancing with the Stars on Monday was a disappointment to the judges and to me. I really expected more. It was more along the lines of the first few weeks, rather than the finals. And ummm… Marie & Jonathan… wtf? Weird Weird Weird. I think she sealed her fate as a runner up. The only dance worth it’s weight was Helio & Julianne’s freestyle, which really was cool.
Tuesday’s finals… I figured Marie would go out next. It was nice to see everyone back again… well, most of them anyway LOL It was also a nice way to remember why these people left lol (I’m rotten, I know)
All in all, I love this show. And the finalists, both Mel & Helio, both deserve the title.
But ultimately -
spoiler.
