Photo Hunters – Dirty

As soon as I saw the theme, I knew EXACTLY what picture(s) I would use this week!Last month, we visited my aunt & uncle in RI and while we were there, it rained briefly. This is what resulted. LOL
Yes, that’s my daughter’s tiny, delicate hand, mushing around the mud
in a dress…
It was nothing that a hose couldn’t handle though LOL

What a busy week!

This week has flown by, it seems. On Tuesday, I went for what I thought was going to be a root canal that turned out to just be a filling, because the dentist was running behind. So the root canal got rescheduled for this Saturday (but I just cancelled it). Then on Wednesday, Zachary went for his 6 month checkup. He’s 16 lbs (almost exactly) and 25-1/2 inches tall. He’s in perfect shape, of course. :) The doctor had NO suggestions for the STILL nursing every 2 hours around the clock, though. Ugh. Then that night, we went to the 137th annual Lancaster Fair. The kids had a fabulous time and the weather held up well, despite the chance of t-storms. It was actually quite humid all night, and the fact that we filled ourselves up on carbs didn’t help matters AT ALL.

Seeing as Anthony is “Too Big” to go on some of the kiddy rides with Libby, it was up to Jimmy & I to take the reigns, and lol we did. Yes, there’s a picture of me in the tea cups and him on the nascar circuit thingiemabob.

I, of course, loved all the opportunities I had for pictures and took well over 100 of them!
On Thursday, I was scheduled for an MRI of the brain and one of my c-spine. This was to hopefully figure out what is causing the numbness/loss of sensation that has been pervasive in most of my body for the last nearly 5 years. I called just before leaving to make sure I could eat first. They said yes, and then she began to walk me through what would happen. They’d do the c-spine first, because they would have to use a CONTRASTING DYE for the brain, and so they’d do that second. Uhhh, I said, “I’m breastfeeding – is the dye safe?” She says “oh no, they suggest you pump for 24-48 hours afterwards”. Nothing like being a bit vague, though, hmm? I was so mad! No one had told me anything. I *do* *Not* *pump* because Zachary NURSES EVERY 2 FREAKIN HOURS. When the hell would I have time or ANY MILK left to pump!? And why didn’t anyone (I.e. MY DOCTOR) think to tell me this. Grrrr. I’d already called the hospital earlier in the morning to find out what the fees would be, since I’m stuck with 20% of it. The c-spine is $2500!!! and the brain with contrast is over $3000!!! So even with 20%, it’s going to be WAY more than I want to spend on my stupid body.

So anyway, I opted out of the brain MRI for now, and am hoping that the c-spine will tell us something. I did go for that and although yes, it was loud and rather uncomfortable since the machine is NOT designed for someone my build, it was over relatively quickly. WHen I called my doctor to talk about it, of course, she wasn’t in. *sigh*

I really think I need to look for another doctor.

So yah, a busy week, which is one of the reasons why I begged off the root canal. My teeth are (whispers) (feeling ok right now). So I’m willing to take the chance that they’ll remain (fine) unti the dentist comes back from vacation in 2 weeks. (watches for the damned lightning to strike).

I’m slowly working my way through my blogger buddies – I’m sorry I haven’t been commenting as much – you guys are just too busy for me! LOL

So, without further ado, here’s my picks. They may or may not be new to you, but they’re new to me!

  • Design Mom – she describes herself this way: I’m a designer/art director and mother of five in New York. I post on where design and motherhood intersect. – her blog is really neat – and she has give aways too! :)
  • Daily Blog Tips – If you’re like me, you’re always looking for ways to increase readership or otherwise make your blog user friendly, etc. This site offers great tips on how to do that.
  • The Theory of Thought – a blog by a 16 yr old – quite entertaining, and not the least bit snarky… ok… a bit snarky LOL
  • Thomas Hawk – gorgeous photoblog
  • 101 Cookbooks – awesome recipes AND photos – 2 of my favorite things!

A couple of blogs I was about to mention, but the idea of having a google ad in *every* *single* *posting* turns me completely off a blog. People don’t click them, people!

Happy Blog Day!
