Meredith, over at Pregnantly Plump, is having her very first contest.  She asks “What’s your worst/best breastfeeding story?” and is giving away one of her own hand-made breastfeeding capes.  Here’s my entry:

My best breastfeeding story would be one that still sticks in my mind 4 years later. It’s actually just a picture in my head – our family had gone on our summer vacation to the Coast of Maine.  Cape Ann (I believe) was a stop on a very muggy, unbeachlike day, and I’ll forever remember sitting there on this park bench that they have installed on the top of a cliff, breastfeeding Libby and feeling like I was on top of the world.  It was just such a serene scene, one that I’ll never forget.

On the flipside, the worst would be the night after we came home from the hospital with Libby – and already my nipples were so sore and all I could do was cry and she was so hungry, she screamed and the only position we hadn’t tried was to have her flipped over my shoulder, literally, while I was laying down, to try to take the pressure off the one spot on my nipple that was now bleeding.  It was this moment that was frozen in my mind when I then found out I was pregnant with Zachary and couldn’t bear the thought of going through it again.
