No – really!!

wow, what a week

The Dog Days of Summer Bloggy Giveaway sure did generate a LOT of excitement throughout the blogosphere this week! I’ve enjoyed seeing all the comments to my blog, even if it was all just to get something LOL Unfortunately, I doubt that few, if any, will return once they’ve won/lost and this excitement has died down. But I’ve learned a few things along the way.

  • If I never see another spam blocker word verification DA38XLK3HLSKU9270 again, it’ll be TOO SOON.

  • There’s an inordinate amount of Christian and or SAH and or mommy and or women bloggers
  • Blogger.com bloggers who do not allow “anonymous” comments also close out alot of people who do not USE blogger.
  • People are very generous.
  • We should all talk about all those who are at BlogHer now :)

In other news – I know you’ll appreciate this just as much as I have. I called my doctor’s office LAST TUESDAY to ask for a referral for a therapist. The dr. I’d seen who prescribed the zoloft had suggested that I consider therapy as it apparently helps to have someone to talk to, etc. etc. After having a particularly rough day with kids/hubby/life last week, I decided to give it a go. The hell with the money – I need to get THROUGH this.

So I called. I explained TO THE RECEPTIONIST that I needed a referral. She said she’d have the doctor get back to me.

3 days later, I called back – Hello? I asked for a referral… I’m having a hard time here. She’s gone for the weekend? Ok… well, uh… I’m asking for this because I’m having A HARD TIME and the other doctor (the one that I had to see because mine was out of town for 2 weeks) suggested I do this… “Oh, let me see if she’s here…. I’ll transfer you to her nurse”…

Me: “Ok, nurse, I’m having a hard time… I thought if I talked to … ”

Nurse: “Oh yes, I was supposed to call you today – how are you doing on the zoloft?”

[Now, just a note, she was supposed to call me a WEEK earlier (after the first week on the zoloft - the doctor specifically told me this) Oh, and it's 4:30 on a Friday - when were you going to call?? - But Ok.... ]

Me: “I’m doing ok – it makes me sweaty, but things are better.”

Nurse: “So you’re looking for a therapist… someone to talk to?”

Me: “Yes, Nicole suggested…

Nurse: “Ok, there’s someone right down the street here that I hear is very good – I can’t remember her name though”…

Me: Ok…

Nurse: Geez, I can’t think of her name.

[makes it hard to write the referral, doesn't it]

Me: Hmmm… well, I have no idea who you’re referring to…

Nurse: Ok, I’ll think about it and have nicole write the referral for you

Me: Ok…

Saturday morning, there was a message on my answering machine from the dr’s office saying that they’d made the referral and the therapist’s office should be getting back to me to make the appointment this week.

Today is Friday. 10 days into the whole “let’s admit that you need HELP” thing. Still no help. I’m documented on my chart as having PPD. Maybe that’s why this keeps happening.

Clearly, there’s no rush on their part to get back to me. Luckily for us all, this week has been better. Hubby gives me some time to myself when he comes home from work. Typically, Zach goes down for a nap after dinner, and hubby takes the other two into another room so that I can just close the bedroom door and have some QUIET time (which sometimes involves the iPod LOL). It’s been a much needed, much appreciated break and I haven’t been nearly so bitchy at my family.

It was especially noticed by me this week when on Wednesday, we had an apartment inspection and this would normally reduce me to a puddled mess of emotions, yelling at the kids and hating myself for letting my house degenerate yet again. But we had a good morning of working together, and it was great.

Well anyway, I’ll be closing my comments at noon and will draw the winners of my contests. I will be away this weekend so I won’t be mailing anything, but will be able to check mail thanks to the wonders of wireless internet :) At least I hope they’ll have theirs working. Ahhh, the joy of cheap lodging.

I’m going to go introduce my baby sister to her newest nephew :)

Throwback Thursday – Anniversary edition :)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

As I mentioned, this past Monday was hubby & my 12th anniversary. It was 12 years ago this week that I flew to Tennessee to meet him and some other internet friends. It was 12 years ago that this picture was taken, and I was already head over heels!

I was ga-ga. I came home with a new plan for my life. To get him to love ME. Heh. The trip had been for “fun” – but it turned out to be a life-changing event for me!

What’s wild to me, though, is that 1) I succeeded and 2) he’s still here! :) )) I love you honey! Happy Anniversary!

To participate in more Throwback Thursdays, head over to the Pinks & Blues Girls!

And don’t forget to check out my giveaways!
