time flies *edited with better video!*

I cannot believe it. During those first few days home from the hospital, it felt like they would last forever. But they didn’t and today marks my baby boy’s 100th day!

He nows holds his head up with virtually no bobbing. He manages to turn himself around while on his belly, when he’s in his basinette or on the floor in the baby gym thingie – which is unfortunate when I’m cooking and he’s whining and I go in to find he’s turned himself around onto the plastic bar thing. LOL He’s definitely mobile.

He’s worked his way to up to sleeping approximately 6 hours at a time at night, from around 9pm till around 3am. Then he’ll sleep again for another 4 hours (when I’m lucky), though lately, it’s been 3 – so he gets up at 6am. But still, a big change from just a month ago.

One of the best parts of being a parent, for me, is watching them go through those changes. I know that when he’s nursing every hour, all day long, it’s because he’s storing up all those precious nutrients for a long sleep, during which he may grow 1/4″. That 1/4 of an inch is precious to me! To think he’s already grown 3+ inches in those short months, just amazing. And to go from being floppy headed, no control over much of anything, to being able to hear your voice and turn towards the sound, look at you and SMILE. OMG. It melts my heart.

**Note: He’s playing tug of war with his big brother, with the camera string handle. LOL

He also grasps things now – when he’s on his back under his baby gym, he manages to roll to one side and use both hands to both grasp the links and rattle them. It’s like.. :gasp: he’s growing up.

noooooo!

But yes, he is. He only nurses for about 5-10 minutes at a time, and yet manages to have grown 4 lbs! I know, some of you other moms of newborns’ babies are bigger than that, but I grow ‘em small around here LOL but still! 4 lbs! Yay Zachary!

He *loves* the Baby Einstein dvds. I never EVER thought I’d be one of “those” moms, the ones to stick their newborn in front of a television, but He Just LOVES those things. He smiles, coos and talks to the tv. He kicks and shakes his fists and really gets into it. He’s not like that when the kids are watching something else, so I know it’s the stuff specifically on the Einstein stuff that’s catching his fancy. It’s so neat to watch him. I only wish I had them for my other 2, but they both watch them now too. Listening to my 4 yr old walk around the house humming something by Beethoven or Mozart is pretty cool!

We’ve always been all about the developmental stuff in our house – when Libby was new, we had these black & white designs that came in a book and we’d prop them up so she could look at them and she’d smile and laugh. Baby Einstein does the same thing for Zach, but with music! Yay!

Anyways, Happy 100th Day Birthday, Zachary! Mama loves you!

a letter to my children

A Letter to My Children:

How times flies! I hope that you are together when you read this. Togetherness has always been so important to me, that you had each other, no matter what, in life.

In the intervening years since I’ve written this letter and you reading it, I hope that our world has changed for the better. I hope that there haven’t been any more wars, and that you’ve been safe from them if there have. I hope that the people you love most in your lives know about me & your dad and that you’ve taught your children (you’d better all have children by now!) how much you and they meant to us. I hope that you’ve found someone truly special to spend your lives with, and that they appreciate and celebrate you every day, as your dad and I did. You truly were our lives, and I suppose time will tell whether or not you know this.

Anthony, as the oldest, I hope that you’ve always been just a phone call away from your brother & sister, and that they’ve always known they could count on you for anything. You were always such a great big brother, so protective and caring. I hope that you’ve continued that and taught your own children how important having a sibling is.

Liberty, you certainly lived up to your name when you were little. I hope you have still – that you’ve grown up to be independant and strong. I have the feeling that you’ve done some crazy things in your life, but I know that they were done out of your huge sense of curiousity and wonder. Hopefully, you haven’t had your heart broken too much. I was lucky in my life to have found your father and the end of my heartbreaks, and I hope you were able to find the same kind of partner in your life.

Zachary, my baby. I’m willing to bet that you were the one to do things in your own way, your own time. Have you finished college yet? I hope so, because as your father and I learned the hard way, college is more important as the days go by. If for no other reason than your own sense of accomplishment. Please keep an eye on your older brother, because he’ll be the one who doesn’t keep an eye on himself, so busy taking care of you guys.

To you all, I hope you know just how incredibly full you made my life. I had no idea when I first had you, Anthony, how much my life would change, and by the time I had you, Zachary, 10 years later, I was STILL surprised at how much life could change with each successive child. But know that as challenged as I was, I was always so proud to be your mother. There was no one who could do better, be smarter, cuter, prettier, better at anything than MY children. You rocked my world.

Love,
Your Mom

The preceeding is my “entry” in a group writing project sponsored by mama blogga. The winner receives a gift card for amazon.com but I just thought the idea itself was neat, so I decided to participate. What would you say to your child/ren?

ah, so you clicked the link!

Thanks so much for coming to visit us in the new location.  I’m glad you came.  Please, take a moment to let me know what you think of the new layout, theme, etc.  I’d really appreciate your feedback.

Thanks for stopping in!

Woohoo – Contest alert, Contest Alert!

So, Stephanie of Adventures in Babywearing stopped by to comment on my Wordless Wednesday posting and let me know that she’s having (yay) a contest and she’s picking not one but TWO people to receive the gift of Cheeky Jewelry. So off I went to Cheeky Jewelry to see if there was something that I’d like to win in the first place, because, ya know, if it were actual cheeks… well, then not so much.

But O M G, these designs are just fabulous! I especially love these Blue Bayou earrings and I think that’s what I’d pick, if I could pick the ones I’d like to pick.

Yah, I totally didn’t get enough sleep last night – Zach has decided that since Mom was ALL TOO GLAD to brag about his sleeping schedule to some anonymous women at WalMart this weekend, that he’d throw in a little curve ball AND TOTALLY TOSS THAT SCHEDULE AWAY. The boy is cruel, I’ll tell ya.

Wordless Wednesday – Whoa, lookit these!
